My daughter had this as part of a 4th grade summer reading list prior to actually going into 4th grade. I read it and really love the story of how the main character of the story was able to overcome the barriers of the time to achieve her dreams.
My seven year old and I read this book together and we both loved it! This story is so well written. Both of us were fully entranced in the story. This is a must have for all girls- telling the story of a girl who wanted her rights and fought for them. The authors note at the end was really helpful and provided a great deal of detail about the real life story and gave my daughter and I a lot to talk about.
Bought it for my 11 yo daughter. She loved it. When she went to one of her horse-girl friends houses, they realized they both had just finished reading it and had a great time talking about it.
Read with my advanced 3rd graders. They enjoyed it a lot. Emotional and challenging topics.
Beautiful story. My son wrote a book report for school about it. He is 7yo, 2nd grade. There were plenty of material in it to reflect and learn from.
WOW, WOW, WOW is all I can say. This is a really good book. It is a top quality book. My son really liked it.It is a good quick read and captured his interest. He could not put the book down. It is a great book.
An engrossing peek into a long gone era. Even though I knew better, I believed every word. A well told story.
