If you are the parent or grandparent of a soccer girl, you and she will love this book. It is a charming window into the mind and heart of a teenage athlete. Amanda Whiting's poetry helps us understand the commitment, exhilaration, and fun in playing a sport and also helps us understand why, at times, a soccer tournament bests a birthday party.
I was very skeptical about buying this book because first I'm not the biggest fan of poems. Second, it was self-published and you never know with that. However, getting the book was a wonderful surprise. It's my new favorite book, and I read a poem every night before I go to bed.
