my 7 soon to be 8 year old son took a year of alfred's lesson 1a workbook piano once weekly with a piano teacher. he completed the workbookand we proceded to begin alfred's workbook 1b which proved to be fatiguing to my son. i purchased this workbook to do real piano play with my son to reinforce lesson 1a workbook level for ease and fun. i tell him to chose 4 songs to play and he returned to enjoying his lessons. this book is easier than alfred's lesson 1a workbook (by the end of it) but reinforces all of the skills learned with is easy read and short lesson songs per each page.great buy for us. i bought this and the teaching little fingers to play to alternate with (both have been great).
I recently got a free piano, and I've been trying to teach myself how to play. I play the clarinet, so I already know how to read treble clef. I wanted a book of music for beginners with songs I already know to help me learn to play in bass clef, and bass and treble combined. I didn't realize the music in this book is only in treble clef. It has no bass clef or chords. This would be a good starting book if you've never played an instrument, but it's useless if you know how to read treble clef. I do like that the letters of the notes are written above the notes, which is really useful for a beginner. It's not a bad book, just not what I was expecting.
I'm an adult that wants to learn how to play my keyboard. This book is excellent for beginners. Has a bunch of kids songs in it. So you already know how the songs are suppose to be played. This is a very big help. Plus letters on top of the notes to be played. Very helpfull.
Very simple songs that will be great to teach my son to play the piano. Music is easy to read and having the notes labeled above the staff is great for someone just learning to play. I wish there was more songs and few simple pieces to teach the left hand the bass clef. Would have been willing to pay a little more for it to be spiral bound so that it will lay flat and not fall off the music stand.
Great for beginners and children. My 8 year old son was so excited that he put the stickers on himself before we got up. It was so easy to follow that he did it perfectly by the instructions. He has already learned two songs and is practicing daily.
Very easy for beginner children. I purchase the stickers for the keys that have the notes on them. It was very easy with the stickers and this book for my 11 year old to play songs even though she has never had a lesson.
Took me forever to figure out the placement of decals, finally YouTubed it and figured it out. The stick that came with for placement was shredding onto the backs of decals so I used a small rubber spatula to remove and place the decals onto the keyboard. On the plus side decals look nice and are large.
Wonderful book for beginners! Contains familiar songs with note names, fingering, everything geared toward beginning piano players.
