I bought this for my Kindle for those instances in which I could remember some lyrics to a hymn and wanted to find the rest of them without having to use an internet search engine. I wasted my money.Perhaps I'm just too dull to figure it out, but I cannot see how to navigate through this book. It would have been so much easier if the Table of Contents and the various Indices contained links to the hymns, but they don't. I can only locate a particular hymn by scrolling through the book and guessing where it should be.And the hymns aren't always there. Let's say I'm looking for hymn number 595. I may get to a page that has the heading for that hymn, but it's likely that I will have to continue to scroll to find the "picture" of what the page would look like in the printed hymnal. In many cases, when I scroll through subsequent pages, all I find is the page heading (number and hymn title) - no lyrics or music.This book is mostly completely useless. It makes me wonder if my copy is somehow broken, or if all the positive reviews were actually intended for a different ebook.

This review is not for the actual content of the Hymnal, which I have absolutely no problem with, but the format - which is a Kindle edition of the book.Short story short: DO NOT BUY KINDLE EDITION.Short story long: You know how in church they post the hymn numbers on the wall and/or in the bulletin for you to know what you are going to be singing today? Yeah, they didn't include an option to search by hymn number. Not only that, but the table of contents is "Not Available For This Title"! How do they expect people to search? Especially when the service is going, and you need to be able to quickly flip to the hymn. Completely idiotic idea to convert the Hymnal to a digital format and not accompany it with the smart search option. There is an option to search by keyword, so let's say I entered the Hymn number 690, which happens to be this Sunday hymn, I got 18 search results. Second major bummer is -- all the music score is an image, so while you do have an option to zoom in on a page to be able to read the tiny font, the images are fuzzy, and if you need to "flip the page", you can't do it in the zoomed view, so you have to zoom out, flip, and zoom in again. Keep away from this option, it'll save your money and your nerves.

I am very disappointed, as I have found that the Kindle edition does not include all of the songs. I am trying to plan music for the service on Sunday, and checking the words in the hymnal against the recorded tracks we have to use at our church-and three of the four songs I am checking today have only the title and copyright information, the actual music and lyrics are not there. Had I known this I would not have purchased this hymnal.

I find the Kindle edition of The Hymnal 1982: Basic Singers useful. Church Publishing has done a terrible job of formatting its books for the Kindle but I have found a way to search for the hymns. It is cumbersome but useful at church. The Christian Miracle Foundation Press has created a very usable Kindle edition of the Book of Common Prayer and I wish that they would do the same for the hymnal.

I am very pleased with the book I purchased. I am astounded at the low price. Being new to the Episcopal Church and the Anglican tradition, the hymnal was something of a mystery to me. All Churches use the same one, so I thought I must have a copy. I got very confused at first when going to Church, with some hymns starting with "S" (ie. S23) Then I read through this book, and the layout makes great sense now. As a hymnal, it's wonderful, combining new hymns with the much more traditional Anglican hymns that have bee around since the Christianization of the British Islands. All in all, very impressed. I would recommend a copy of the hymnal to all Anglicans, especially those new to the Church.

when I first bought this Hymnal only the words were shown. Many years later you guys updated it and I now have the music'notes and lines' with the words. With my larger kindle, larger fonts and using it horizontally. it works well. You see,I am legally blind.

Unfortunately, this hymnal does not have hymn titles! Only hymn numbers. There is no hymn title search in the back, since there are no titles. There are options to search for first lines and for common tunes. Not helpful. I will be returning it, I want the same hymnal I use in the pews, this is not the same. I need one with hymn titles in order to make it useful.

Two friends have this on their iPads, so I downloaded it for my Samsung Galaxy, with the intention of using it for my choir, but the size of the music is too small to read. I can "stretch" the page, but only the text gets larger. Not sure what is wrong with this version. Strongly suggest you download a sample before buying to make sure it does what you want.

I bought this book despite it's high Kindle price. I liked the discussions on how to really try to experience the trades I make, especially how I feel right leading up to and after a trade. Those feelings are typically some anxiety, and needing the market to do something positive to help alleviate that anxiety was worth working on. Understanding how maintaining my emotional composure through every aspect of trading is so important, so that I can just do my job. Having "mistake-free" trades is more gratifying to my long-term goals than whether I make or lose money in the short-term. His discussions of meditating was something I skipped, as I do this anyways. Overall, it's a good book as a trading coach, as well as life coach. I felt it was worth the high price after reading it.

Because it is unquantifiable and generally misunderstood by most traders and investors, psychology is the often overlooked intangible aspect of trading. Unlike the precise mathematical formulas used in technical analysis, we cannot easily reduce human behavior to a mathematical equation that can be plotted on a graph as a trend line or as a series of variables that we can examine in detail throughout history.That said, much current research in the social sciences is attempting to bring psychology more in line with mathematics for the precision that it gives to experimental methods. Mathematical methods are applied to behavioral science for the purpose of observing and comparing human behavior according to a set of strict numerical criteria - the only stable benchmarks that allow comparison of behavior from person to person and from time to time

This might be point of contention for some but Steve Cohen is arguably the world's best trader. Today and possibly ever. Ari Kiev is the man Steve hired to be the in house psychologist at SAC capital, which is probably the most successful hedge fund the past 20 years barring the insider trading issues. Ari's books are the most valuable books a professional hedge fund type trader can read and study. More than Market Wizards etc and some of the Soros books which I think deserve to be up there as well. Note, I said professional trader. If you are a full time professional trader focusing on short term strategies these books are as close to the holy grail as you will ever find. Please note that it will require an enormous amount of continuous and intense work and effort before you see real results. Best of luck. RIP Ari Kiev.

Ari Kiev's book Trading to Win might seem like just psycho-babble to some traders. That is odd, given that some of these same critics are devout followers of technical analysis, which premises that psychology factors firmly into market movements. Why then is it such heresy to believe that you can improve the performance of a trader by working on his psychology?It is not a strange concept to Steve Cohen, who hired Ari Kiev as a "trading coach" for his hedge fund S.A.C. Kiev, who was profiled in Jack Schwager's Stock Market Wizards , teaches that traders need to stretch themselves in the goals they set. They also need to eliminate the negative thinking that prevents them from reaching those goals. Much of Trading to Win is thus actually "common sense" (as is most psychology, it seems), but sometimes it is useful to hear someone reiterate sound principles.One principle for which critics have taken Kiev to task is his suggestion that traders should set or raise their profit goals, which seems like a veritable "no no" from a risk management perspective. The criticism misses the fact, however, that Kiev is really saying that raising your performance goals means raising your work ethic. What are you going to do to raise your game? Squeezing out extra percentage points of return requires getting onto the trading floor hours earlier (or hours later) than you normally would-and researching companies more assiduously on paper or by working the phones harder. Moreover, Kiev actually recommends stricter risk management through such time-tested techniques as understanding your reasons for each trade, as well as the setting of target entry and exit prices. He also wants you to figure out if fears and doubts are keeping you from cutting your losses and riding your winners.This book is clearly not for everyone; it is easily too "touchy feely" for traders concerned solely with the quantitative or more tangible aspects of trading. Kiev also tends to float heavily from topic to topic, often without a clear path. But for those traders who wonder how "fixing their heads" might result in greater success, Trading to Win is definitely worth a read.

He analyzes this both historically, looking at those who have held this theological tension faithfully and those who have not, and practically, giving concrete examples of what this might look like for the church, the state, the family, and the individual. I especially appreciate the time he took analyzing Bonhoeffer's views regarding the two realms.This book is a real treasure!

This book does an excellent job of both defining and maintaining the dualism that it posits. This is a largely confusing issue for many christians, but this books helps us to live within the tension. Without rehashing the entire book, this is a must read.
