Was a gift to someone who knows of the Monument Canyon and she loved it!

Very enjoyable.

Great read!!

Born in 1924, Clark grew up in Durango. His outgoing parents often took their kids exploring, so as a child he spent time with Southwest legends Harry and Mike Goulding, John Wetherill, and even met one of the last living Ute chiefs from the nineteenth century conflicts. Later in Iife, he befriended novelist Louis L’Amour and also legendary Episcopal priest Harold Lieberman and his helpers in Bluff, Utah. Another friend was the Navajo weaving expert Joe Ben Wheat. He also tells of his many Navajo friends, especially describing their unique culture and strong personalities, and how they interacted with Anglo art dealers like himself. His stories of these encounters are detailed and very entertaining. He met an envious range of people, daringly explored some of the most physically difficult terrain, and very generously shares it all in this outstanding memoir.

This book is a wonderful collection of true stories from the four corner area near Durango, Colorado. The author is the son of a highly experienced and respected Indian trader who personally knew many of the Indian families in the area. He also knew many famous people such as John Ford who became interested in the Monument Canyon area and filmed many western movies there. I can highly recommend this book as not only historically accurate but extremely entertaining. The son of the author is still in the Indian trading business. I have met him and he is carrying on a wonderful tradition.

Remaining too long in losing positions, quitting winning positions too soon, ... are the main reasons why so much people fail in the end. If you want to start Forex trading, read this book and then read the Marcel Link book on High-probability trading... Open a demo trading account and try not to lose money by using the template Jim provides. Exercise, exercise and then read some more. Good luck!

I am a man of 78 years of age and I have free time and some dollars that are not essential for me to live, I can lay them down trying to make a profit. Unfortunately I bought the second, I say unfortunately not because the book is bad, no, the book is very good but my neurons did not have the habit of learning. With little hope send an email to Jim telling him that I did not understand his second book. Immediately he answered and offered to explain the parts I did not understand. Jim negotiates with the three big traders Asia, Europe and America which given the different time zones makes him work most of the day. I appreciated his offer of help and he recommended me to start my learning by reading the book FOREX TRADING , THE BASICS EXPLAINED IN SIMPLE TERMS. This book should be the first book for all those who wish to trade. In short Jim has not stopped to keep in touch with me and has clarified some concepts. With many experiences, I strongly recommend Jim's three books, but they must be read in order, first the first. Thanks Jim, I should have read your books before risking my money. God bless you.

I have had my own business for decades, and I wish to learn everything about the world of trading, particularly Forex Trading. Mr. Brown's book is my first read, and it has given me the information I need to take preliminary steps. By that, I mean that I have joined his FaceBook group, and I read everything posted there, and I will continue with my studies. I am happy with my purchase of this book and I feel as if I've waded into the ocean that is Trading, and the water's warm and inviting (and filled with sharks:). I'm generally a strong swimmer, so I feel excited about moving further, over time, into the depths, with guidance from and connection to the FaceBook group...and more involved study as it becomes available. I would like to add that I wrote to Jim with questions, and he immediately responded to offer helpful answers.

The title says it all, it will teach you everything you would want to know especially if you're just starting out, in easy terms and in a manner that does not make you second guess yourself.While it's true you can find all of this information online, I think it's handy to have it all in one place, easy to find the information you're looking for and easy to revisit when you need to. Brown also provides some very helpful resources that someone just starting out can go to to ask questions, get tips and even contact the author himself, and yes he does respond (as of 3-6-18)Could not have been more pleased with this purchase. I'm trying to teach some of my friends these concepts and this book did a much better job than I did to get them started.

This is one book I wish I had when i started day trading a few years ago. The author explains his methodology, risk, the importance of discipline, avoiding "revenge trading", being aware of news, the wisdom of trading only one pair of currencies and much more. Just like you don't need to know how a car works before driving it, you don't need to know every technical detail about trading in order to be a trader. Jim knows and enjoys his subject and it shows in his writing. Reading it felt like I was being guided by a friend on a journey. Beginning and experienced traders will benefit from this book. Don't be scared, get prepared.

Jim has written the definitive guide to getting started in Forex trading. Extremely well written, concise and thorough. Could not ask for a better primer on the subject. Most of the book is "this is why I am the best" "this is why I know more than you" "if they listened to me, they'd still be in business" "if you don't apply SCRUM you're stupid". Like dang, buddy, save some ego for the rest of us. The "SCRUM System" he developed genuinely seems like it's helpful and applying it to our everyday work will be beneficial, which is why I gave it 2 stars. But every chapter he says "I'll explain more about SCRUM later", which is annoying considering I was reading this book to learn about SCRUM, not about the all-mighty Sutherlands achievements. The process seems efficient, the writing is obnoxious. If he had written a 2 page manual about applying SCRUM, he would have accomplished twice the work in half the time...

Why did I choose this book? Its the premier book in scrum created by one of its founders. And it had fantastic reviews.Do NOT listen to people who say "it doesn't teach you how to implement scrum." yes it does. There is an appendix implantation guide at the end and the "why" and "how" all throughout the book.What was my experience reading the book? It was a very easy read. The voice of the book was pleasant and flowed well.It told of the history of scrum and how each role, each event, and each artifact developed and now what the best practices are.This book will get anyone up to speed on scrum.Would I recommend it to others? Of course, if they want to learn scrum, this is the bet place to start without a doubt.

Boring book, does not teach you anything about Scrum itself. Couple of methods here and there are thrown in there without giving further explanation, but the whole book is basically about how Jeff Sutherland is the man. Jeff created this, saves this company, helped this person the title of the book should just be called Biography of Jeff Sutherland. Also throwing in the book just bunch of random quotes and examples of other books and stories that were just Googled probably to add it to the book. The main point of the book could of been explained on 1 page. Waste of $20

The first thing to know is that this isn't a detailed guide to Scrum practices, though there is a summary of the key practices in an appendix. Since there are lots of guides to Scrum at the practices at varying levels of details, having more about what the practices are would not add a lot of value. This book does inform you about how scrum works by helping you to understand the value of Scrum through stories of Scrum in use in various domains, and not just software.. The book is full of war stories (both literally and figuratively), and Sutherland is clearly proud of how he, his family, and organizations he has worked with, have applied scrum. Reading this book will help energize you to use Scrum to help your team succeed. This is not the only book on Scum you need. But if you want motivation to explore more about Scrum, or if you have been practicing Scrum for a while and are looking for renewed inspiration, give this book a read.

I think it's very important to understand the "why" before trying to worry about the "how", so if you're new to Scrum and are thinking about diving straight into a book discussing the processes, I recommend taking a step back and reading something like this to understand where Scrum came from, what problems it is designed to solve, and how it is applicable to your situation, if at all.It gets a little over-ambitious towards the end, and tends to view Scrum as a silver bullet, which it is not, but the discussion in the first half of the book is great.

I love the relationship that she has with Dash. They are truly stronger together and though they often disagree the one thing they agree on is their love for each other. Their personalities jump off the page and make you want to not only continue reading, but also keep you invested in their story. Without giving too much away, I love the ending of this book. It is the perfect ending to this series. If you loved the other books, you will definitely love this one.

This is the final installment of the Beauty Never Dies Chronicles and brings a stellar finish to the series.A truly unique series about a post apocalypse era where victims of a mysterious most have slept for a hundred years. Upon awakening several of them have discovered they have uncanny abilities. The series has lots of action, lots of weird creatures, lots of to die for special powers floating around and lots of love. Whew! Enjoyed every minute.

Okay, so it’s really hard for me to follow through with a book series because I get bored or just lose interest in the series. I’ve read all 3 book and now I’m coming back and reviewing them. This series really had some unexpected turns and twist so it kept me wanting to read more! I didn’t so much as like the way it ended I wanted to hear more about their life after the diamond towers fell... but that’s just my opinion! However I still highly recommend this series and probably is one of my favorite series. Will definitely read some more work from this author.

Loved it! I was hooked from book one! Great series, superb character development and amazing plot twists. Dash and Charlotte’s story kept me on my toes and I loved every minute of it.

What a phenomenal conclusion to an amazing series! It was a beautiful conclusion with a good dose of romance and action.Dash and Charlotte were a great couple in this novel. I loved how both of them grew over the course in the series, but in this novel they really changed and had so much development. Charlotte is an amazing heroine. I loved her spunk and snark. But, her vulnerable side in this novel is amazing. I love how she has to go through a lot of trials to truly understand reality and comes to embrace her destiny. Charlotte isn’t a Mary Sue and that was awesome. Yes she is super powerful, but the girl actually has the brains and brawl to conquer and make tough choices.Dash is such a sweet heart. I just wanted a real life version of Dash. He is so sweet and caring. I love how he sores on Charlotte. He is always there for his girl and supports her. But in his own way he is strong and unique. His banter between Charlotte was hilarious and his remarks made me laugh. Dash definetly made this book a plus.The secondary characters were a great addition. I loved seeing what happened to Ember and Charlottes family. The way each characters intention was revealed but you couldn’t predict was awesome.The romance is honestly my favorite part of the book. The chemistry between Dash and Charlotte made the page sizzle. The kissing scenes were out of this world plus the other stuff. I also liked the maturity Charlotte and Dash had as a couple. They had healthy relationship and communicated. There was no excess drama and I loved how they became even closer through all the turmoil.The world building is amazing. I love how we get to see how truly evil the Forsaken are. I also liked how the Institute is super evil and the main villain in the novel added so much. The fight scenes were well executed with plenty of suspense. And, the unique take on dypstopia was truly one of kind.All in all, this is an amazing novel. This novel is a great conclusion to an amazing series. I can’t recommend this book enough.

It's no joke that Jonathan Little knows what he is talking about. His book ranks up their with some of the best on no-limit hold'em.The only problem with the book I had after reading through a third of it was that his ideas are presented a little abstractly and hard to follow for the beginner. This book was written for advanced players who can already play comfortably at their respective chip zone and know how to calculate implied odds. I noticed that Jonathan does not mention SPR (stack-to-pot ratio) and playing with SPRs in the first volume. He does however, mention some pre-flop raising guides and which hands to play in position or out of position; even in late position or in the blinds. I always enjoy that part of poker books.This book should be used as sort of a refresher for those who are similar with how to masterfully play a big stack and are good players. I do not recommend this book to someone who is just starting out; probably the Harrington on Hold'em series. The basic play must be mastered for tournaments before you can experiment with more advanced plays. The point behind most poker books is play your table and your image respectively and be observant.I would buy this book if you are a poker nut and enjoy reading poker books. I would also read it if you want to improve your play from just a good player to a poker pro.

This is a great great book! I have plugged many leaks in my game and have noticed the way I think about poker is really evolving, especially the ability to "put my opponent on a range" which is something Mr. Little talks about constantly.I gave it 4 stars, and not 5, for several reasons. One, while my mind is really geared toward math, it is unrealistic to be able to plug in the variables and compute some of his raise, call, or fold formulas on the spot at a live table when there is so much going on. But maybe this will come with more practice. Even without all the variables and an actual equation, I have been able to roughly calculate the equity I have with each decision, and his suggestions to study poker equity tables online is a good one. The main reason, is that most of the book is spent discussing when the effective stack size is 200 BB's. I either need to move, or move up in stakes, because the small to medium buy-ins I play in in NorCal start you with maybe 160 BB's (this is just for the first level). Not too many people bust or double up at the first level, so once we move up a level and the blinds double from 25/50 to 50/100, the effective stack size is 80 BB's. I could really benefit from more specific examples of how to play at this level.That said, I have played 4 live tourneys since reading this and volume 2. While I haven't finished in the money (I have FT'd a few times prior to reading this book), I'm noticing how consistent, and improving my results are:-92nd out of 151 (played right)-49th out of 103 (played right)-42nd out of 91 (played right)-23rd out of 101 (there are 2 crucial hands that made me go bust at the end that I played wrong- to summarize, you need a much better hand to raise than you do to call, especially with players already raised into the pot. He talks a lot about this and I was not dealing with the pressure of my short stack well)I believe that as I continue to apply his outlined methods, and slowly integrate them with my own unique game, I will become a very consistent in the $ player. Any of the above tourneys I played, I could have easily made the $ with just one or 2 more flips going in my favor. Which is another thing, he really helped me deal with tilt, and short-term variance.Overall, not just a good read, I would say this and volume 2 are must-reads if you want to take your poker tournament game to the next level.

Haven’t finished the book yet but I was a winning tourney player already. Several small stakes 1st places but not a lot of ITM if I didn’t have strong runs. I’d either play solid hands and progress or get blinded out of my chips. I never understood LAG play. I’m practicing the methods in this book and taking notes on players (online) and maximizing position and stack sizes and am building bigger stacks getting deeper in tournaments regularly.Highly recommend it for anyone that is a solid TAG player that needs to up their aggression. Book is paying off literally.

This book has a tremendous amount of tournament strategy ideas for all stages. It goes through early tournament <100BB, all the way to <6BB. At each stage, optimal ppay strategies for early position, middle position, late position, and SB and BB. Too much to digest in one reading. I think this purchase was a tremendous value. Jonathon Little is a very good instructor.

I tend to the LAG style of play and have gone well in getting into the money and often (relatively speaking) with a good sized stack. However, I felt I was hitting and missing some important concepts and not getting to the final table enough nor getting enough firsts out of the final three. This book has shown me where I was leaking and where I was doing good. It's great to read such a strongly affirmative exposition of LAG play and that TAG play is not the only way to win; I never could keep my stats in the recommended ratios. So this book has helped liberate my play and shown me how I could improve. I feel better about my game now, it's more solid, and my 'success' rate has improved.However ... when he explains various points there are a lot of provisos to be aware of. In my first implementation of some of his advice I had missed one of his provisos and found myself rather deeply in a mess. So if you do read it, study his advice carefully. This book is a serious case of "a little knowledge is a dangerous thing" as his style of play is probably further out than the average player will feel comfortable with. Consequently, you should be willing to make an effort to genuinely understand exactly the principles he espouses.Overall, he helped me learn how to play "my game" sensibly. This book is really amazing! The pictures stir the imagination and please the eye, and the text is amazingly informative. I used this with my son (second grade) as an introduction to the solar system, and I have to admit it was a little too advanced for him. He did enjoy the pictures a lot and the info I selected to read to him was understandable, but I did have to pick and choose. This is in no way a complaint though, as I plan to reuse this book in a few years, and that will allow me to present a great deal of new info.Overall I am incredibly pleased with this book and I plan to use it for years to come. I highly recommend it to anyone with an interest in the planets, or for a homeschool library.

Wish I could give this book ten stars!The layout, great photos and what I appreciated was all the bullet notes supporting a very readable text. Got it for my 10 yr grandson to peak his interest. But the book is for all ages. I'm 75 yrs and think The Planets is fascinating. Do not hesitate to add this to your library 🌎🌗

Pair this with the space traveling cartoon and you get some serious learning and incredible enthusiasm learning about our solar system. Our 2 boys ages 3 and 4 know the planets backwards and forwards; they can tell you characteristics of each planet, color composition distances— everything. The book by Smithsonian already shows considerable wear and is their favorite book in the house. We have been wowed by all of this

This is one of the best books I have seen on the subject of the Solar system. I like the systematic way it depicts our star, the Sun and all the other important members of the Solar System family. It's a great portrait of the Solar Family. Plus the pictures are stunning.

Beautiful book with lots of information about all of the planets, plus the sun, comets, and asteroids. My only wish is that it included how to pronounce some of the words. I had to do a lot of internet searching to learn how to pronounce Kuiper.I read this with my 5yr old. Much of it is over his head, but he still really enjoys it a lot.

Great book for someone who want to have some basic knowledge. Lovely layout for easy reading ...written with simplicity for easy understanding ....thank you Smithsonian....
