Let me start with saying the style of authenticity written in this book is beyond anything I’ve ever read before. I have a library of over 1,000 books. Annie Grace wrote this book as if she closed her eyes, and as she experienced an emotion, or a physical effect she journaled down exactly what happened when she used to drink and how it relates to why she used alcohol for so many reasons. To feel happy, to numb pain, to feel pleasure, and so many more reasons. Each chapter in this book goes into detail about each of these reasons with such simplicity. Annie’s invitation to be a part of this 30-day experiment is the greatest gift I’ve been given .....ever! You ask why? Annie, not even being a scientist or chemist or engineer, explains in ordinary simply language the exact effects of what alcohol has on your brain and does to your body scientifically. She supports her discussion with scientific studies. And she doesn’t tell you, you are moral weak or you have to stop drinking. She explains that this type of high-functioning brain drinking is not a moral weakness; it is a physical and scientific trick that alcohol does to your brain that causes the “craving” to continue drinking every day. I decided to try a dry January and stumbled upon this book. I have am also participating in a LIVE experiment with daily videos and cannot say enough about this book. It has opened my mind and made me truly aware of my behaviors and the choices I am making. The biggest part is the science behind all of this. I highly recommend this book to anyone wanting to see what life would be like without alcohol.

I have been struggling with my drinking habits for years. One morning, while hungover, I stumbled on to Annie Grace. I signed up for The Alcohol Experiment for January and purchased this book and "The Naked Mind."I have learned so much about alcohol and my drinking. I now have a different mind set about drinking. I never thought I could be alcoholic free for this long.The best part of this book is that it is an experiment. Your experiment! You are not required to be alcohol free for 30 days, it is suggested but if you are not, thats ok! It is for people to really take a look and collect data about their drinking habits. Annie Grace has literally changed my life.This book is amazing! Highly recommended.

Annie Grace is truly the best. She is practical and down to earth. Not at all preachy. She is a real person with her own alcohol experiences. We are fortunate that she decided to help so many of us with her science based research and personal insight!

This book/program is the only thing that got me to kick my wine habit after over 30 years of fairly regular drinking. My drinking had slipped into a regular habit & I was drinking for stress, which I have since learned - thanks to this program - is the worst way to drink. I highly recommend the program as explained in Annie Grace’s book. If you do the work (there are daily exercises, such as journaling your “why”), you will most likely see amazing results. I have met many who have followed the program outlined in this book and have had success as well. If you want to take a break from, moderate or stop drinking, do NOT hesitate to read this book and follow the advice/science given. It WILL change your life!

I was a fan after reading This Naked Mind, Annie's first book, but this book really lays out the content in daily readings and makes it so easy to absorb. I have witnessed many people using the 30 Day Alcohol Experiment really turn their lives around. This is a tool for anyone that questions their drinking, whether looking to quit completely, moderate or just observe how their drinking is serving them. A fascinating read - even if you are not yet ready to make a change.

I had already read The Naked Mind, which was very informative. I did not find the information in this book to be significantly different, but the idea of committing to 30 days made a difference to me. Annie Grace as a sort of guide for JUST 30 DAYS was what I needed. I don't know if I am forever alcohol-free. I don't know if I was truly an "alcoholic." What I do know is that I was questioning my relationship with alcohol, and now I have the much-needed perspective that I had been hoping for. The key outcome for me is mindfulness. If you're wondering about your drinking, give it a shot. My only hesitation for a fifth star on this review is that the book is so similar to The Naked Mind, including verbatim cut and paste of some passages.

I have loved Annie Grace and her previous book This Naked Mind ever since I found it back in September of 2017. I had been questioning my own relationship with alcohol and found that book through a google search on the topic. It is chock full of great, scientific information that will give you many "a-ha" moments around what the substance actually does to your brain and body.About 6 months later I discovered her Alcohol Experiment online and through the journalling and videos there-in found myself with more sober days than I ever had just "white knuckling" in an effort to quit drinking.This book takes that experiment and expands it. She has a way with words and you never feel judged.
